12th Fail is a Hindi cinema based on the 2019 eponymous non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. The film navigates through the challenging terrains of Chambal, where societal hardships and corruption threaten to crush dreams. Unlike the original portrayal of resorting to violence, Manoj draws inspiration from an upright police officer and chooses the pen over the gun, crafting his own destiny.

The plot develops with the protagonist Manoj failing his 12th-grade exam because the DSP Dushyant Singh didn't allow cheating. Manoj realizes that to become a big officer, he must stop cheating. In the next year, he passes without cheating. After completing his BA, the real struggle starts. He leaves home to become a police officer but on the way, his money and bag get stolen. Pritam Pandey, an interesting character, helps him reach Delhi.
In Delhi, Manoj faces hardships. He worked in a library for very low wages and started preparing for the UPSC examination. Although he failed the prelims on his first attempt, Manoj remained motivated and studied hard, eventually clearing the prelims on his second attempt but in the time of appeared for the third attempt his beloved grandmother passed away. The keyword "restart" becomes crucial in his journey. Along the way, he meets Shraddha, who plays a significant role in his journey. Despite failing the mains examination, Manoj perseveres and succeeds in his fourth attempt with the support of his friend and Gauri Bhaiya and becomes an IPS officer.

"12th Fail" does a great job showing how the main character faces challenges and teaches us important lessons about being honest, starting over after failing, and how having love and friends can make a big difference in achieving success. In a world where many movies follow the same predictable patterns, "12th Fail" stands apart as a new and touching story that leaves people feeling motivated and happy. It's a movie that not only entertains but also carries a powerful message about facing difficulties with honesty, trying again after setbacks, and the strong impact of love and friendship on the journey to success. And final mention, this movie is based on the true story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and his wife Shraddha Joshi. Medha Shankar, portraying Shraddha, captivates with her grace and warmth, while Vikrant Massey's emotive performance as Manoj Kumar Sharma is unforgettable.

This is a must-watch movie. Don't miss it.
