1. Discuss the
significance of teaching and testing oral skill at the secondary level. Explain
four strategies that can be employed in effectively teaching speaking skill. 4+6
2. Analyze the
importance of integrating reading and writing skills while teaching English at
the secondary level. Discuss four different techniques of testing the reading
skill of the 9th graders with examples. 4+6
3. Justify that why
testing learner's vocabulary in second language teaching is fairly essential.
Suggest at least two ways each for testing receptive and productive vocabulary
knowledge. 4+3+3
4. Explain how you
differentiate a subject specific annual work plan from a daily lesson plan.
Write three points justifying the need for making lesson plans. Prepare a micro
lesson plan for teaching pronunciation at the secondary level. 3+3+4
5. Explain
with example, how a teacher's guide differs from a textbook. And, critically
review the specification grid of secondary English curriculum. 5+5

6. As an English
language teacher, what inter-relationship do you find between the knowledge of
content and pedagogy? Present your arguments why you need to consider both
disciplines in order to become an effective teacher. 5+5
7. The language of
literary genres like poems, plays and verses is said to have deviated
structures having full of figures of speech. Even so, the English literary
texts have been included in English subject at the secondary level. Explain why
such literary texts are utilized for teaching English. 10
8. Introduce
teachers' professional ethics. If you are appointed as a permanent English
teacher at the secondary level, what will be your best strategies to maintain
your professional ethics? Present your plans and prospective actions. 2+4+4
9. How is academic
writing different from non-academic writing? Show the significance of academic
writing for English language teachers with your arguments. 5+5
10. What is Action
Research? Explain why we generally conduct action research. Also, explain how
you develop your action research plan before you start your teaching assignment
